Kapronca – Ferdinandovac: Eastern part of Koprivnica-Križevci county

Koprivnica is the biggest town in the area. There are some accommodation facilities and traditional restaurants in town, therefore it is an ideal starting point to discover the area and try the traditional delicacies of Podravina. Most famous event in town is the renaissance festival at the end of August.

Hlebine is considered as the cradle of naïve painting in the Podravina area. In the 1930s several painters, including Krsto Hegedušić, started to paint with oil on glass. Most famous was Ivan Generalić, who accomplished his style. The Hlebine gallery exhibits both paintings and sculptures. Path to the local Holy Katerina church is also bordered by works of the local painters.

Ten kilometres to the east worth to make a stopover at the lake in Čingi-lingi, which is another beloved bathing place for the locals. Snakes are living there, it is home for the cross viper.

Turning to the north, then crossing the Drava at Repaš, one can arrive again to Gola. Repaš is a beloved hunting area here, and a valuable oak forest.

The next stopover is in Molve, which is known by the three-naves church of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary, famous pilgrimage site, which is also known as the Cathedral of Podravina.

One can make a detour to Virje, then to Đurđevac, In Virje, at the birthplace of Josip Turković rich heritage of the painter is exhibited. Đurđevac is famous of its castle, which hosts an art gallery, a bar and a restaurant. On the main square the parish church of St. George is visible, who gave name to the town. The special botanic reserve of Đurđevac Sands is located eastward from the town, which is called “Sahara of Podravina” by the locals.
