Hungarian-Croatian contest for children with cycling and boat trip

Local government of Mohács in partnership with Local government of Beli Manastir have successfully applied for EU funds for implementation of “Bike&Boat” project (ID: HUHR/1601/2.1.1/0003). During the project the two bordering cities in close friendship for a long time have jointly developed their tourism infrastructure. As it comes from the name of the project, it consisted of several investments and actions promoting cycling, and alongside with this, the biggest element of the project was the purchase of a 50-passenger capacity catamaran pleasure boat. One of the first maiden journeys of the so-called “Mohács I” boat was devoted to the boat trip of the children participating in an international cycling contest.

The cycling contest was organised on 29 April 2019 when around two dozen of primary school children from Mohács rode their bicycles along the picturesque EuroVelo 6 route on the dike of Danube until the border crossing point at Udvar, where they met their Croatian fellow children and came back to Mohács. After the 30 km long journey they participated in a cycling contest in the centre of Mohács, had their real Šokci lunch in Busó Courtyard and then took part in a boat trip on Danube where the children also filled in a traffic safety test. After a great day full of experiences, the best children in the contest were also rewarded with prize.
